2009 Infiniti FX35 - Short Take Road Test

The new rip-roaring Infiniti FX50 is a fine sporty crossover SUV, but with 390 horsepower, it’s a bit over the top. For starters, who really needs one of these tall wagons to run 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds, as the FX50 does? Second, it rides so stiff-leggedly that it threatens to shake loose the fillings in your teeth. And finally, EPA projections of 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway are disheartening at a time when gas just blew past $4 a gallon.
For those who think that less is suddenly a good idea, the 3.5-liter V-6–engined FX35 makes a case for that. Its looks are every bit as wicked as the FX50’s, even on its standard 18-inch wheels and tires. (The FX50 comes with 20-inchers as standard.) It can be outfitted with most of the techno toys from its larger, V-8–powered stablemate. With 303 horses (up from 275 in the previous FX35), performance is hardly shabby, with the 0-to-60 blast taking just 6.1 seconds. Although our observed fuel consumption of 14 mpg raised eyebrows—it was the same as the stronger FX50’s—the number was skewed by a preponderance of city driving: The EPA numbers are 16 mpg city and 21 highway, not the improvement one might expect over the V-8.

Maserati GranTurismo 2009

Almost auto enthusiasts know well what prosodic fabulousness Maserati is quite habitual to offer, and there are only a few vehicles that can compete its Gran Turismo when it comes to beauty of a vehicle. It seems quite ahead in beauty and styling when compared to quite well-designed Aston Martin DBS that has front midship engine layout and long hood. It’s a real beauty for all those who can sense what beauty means for when it comes to autos.

New Fuels New Models For HUMMER

The iconic HUMMER range of vehicles looks forward to an exciting 2009, with new models and powertrains which expand HUMMER appeal to a wider group of customers. What has not changed, however, is the unique style that sets every HUMMER apart on the highway, and the legendary capabilities that make it unique off-road as well.
One new initiative, led by the HUMMER H2 SUV and H2 SUT, is the standard FlexPower capability that will allow these models to run on E85 ethanol, gasoline, or any combination of the two fuels. E85, which consists of 85 percent ethanol mixed with gasoline, is a cleaner-burning, higher-octane fuel that can help offset rising demand for oil.

The name, as per Faralli & Mazzanti tradition, is inspired by the Etruscan world. Vulca da Veio is the most famous Etruscan sculptor, responsible for some of the most well known artistical expressions of this great and mysterious ancient population, including the “Apollo di Veio”.

2007 BMW 5 Series Sedan

BMW's 5 Series sedans are renowned for their sports-car-like performance and handling. The top-of-the-line 550i is the priciest and most powerful version (the V10-powered M5 is in a league of its own) and like the 525 and 530 models, it receives only minor updates for 2007, most of which are high-tech gadgets. Styling and major mechanical components carry over unchanged.

Primary among the new high-tech upgrades is an enhanced BMW Assist safety/communication system (similar to General Motors’ OnStar) that offers services like collision assistance and stolen vehicle recovery. A new TeleService function alerts owners of maintenance/repair needs and contacts them to set up an appointment at a local dealership. Every 5 Series model now comes with four years of BMW Assist; by comparison, it is a $685-per-year option on the 3 Series.

The 2007 550i gains an input that allows iPods and other portable devices to be played through the vehicle’s audio system. A high-definition (HD) radio receiver is newly optional ($500). This new system, which debuted on the 2006 6 Series, delivers CD-quality digital sound on FM stations that broadcast in the new format, with FM-quality audio on AM stations. Unlike satellite radio, HD radio is free, all broadcasts are local in nature and the radio units can receive standard analog broadcasts in addition to HD digital programming. As of spring 2006, more than 700 stations across the U.S. were broadcasting in HD radio, with more than 3,000 committed to adding the new format.

Another new high-tech option is the BMW Night Vision system ($2,200). Similar to systems offered by Mercedes-Benz and Lexus, Night Vision uses a thermal imaging camera to display a view of the road ahead on the vehicle’s navigation system screen and help expose objects otherwise undetectable by the naked eye.

The 5 Series line underwent a major makeover for the 2004 model year that included a new platform, powertrains and radically different styling. The 550i received a larger V8 for 2006 and a name change in the process — it was previously called the 545i.

The 550i comes only as a sedan and with rear-wheel drive. Those looking for all-wheel drive must step down to the six-cylinder-powered 525xi or 530xi. A wagon variant is available only as the 530xi Sport Wagon.

The new C-Class SE

The C-Class SE’s nose bears the traditional hallmarks of a
Mercedes-Benz: a chromed grille with laurel wreath badge and a three-pointed star that sits proudly on the bonnet. There’s also chrome around the top edge of the side windows. Three black louvres, meanwhile, help to emphasise the front air intakes, and the front fog lamp surrounds, too, are in black.

The theme continues at the rear, where the wide boot lid handle is finished in matt black. Equally attractive are the alloy wheels fitted as standard on all models.

The cabin has a similarly refined style. Its cross-stitched seats come with Brighton cloth trim – in either black, reef grey, black/beige or black/red – or optional Artico man-made leather substitute. There’s also fine chrome detailing and subtle high-gloss black trim, with burr walnut wood trim available as an option.

The standard equipment includes the Audio 20 radio/single CD, automatic climate control, a leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel and leather trim for the gearshift lever.

C-Class Sports Coupé

The new generation C-Class Sports Coupé elevates the performance car to ye
t higher levels of luxury and appeal. It combines a stunning and dynamic look with breathtaking performance, and cutting-edge technology with traditional elegance.

Youthful good looks
The new generation C-Class Sports Coupé has a strong identity, handles more dy
namically and looks more youthful. And, because it also shares technology and innovations with other Mercedes-Benz vehicles such as the new SLK-Class, the new generation C-Class Sports Coupé unquestionably now owns the technical and intellectual leadership of its segment.

Body building
The exterior of the new generation C-Class Sports Coupé impresses immediately. What was already a dynamic and sporty car is now even fresher and more youthful.
From sweeping curves and a wider stance to touches like the new radiator grille, the styling both builds on our sporting heritage and complements other Mercedes-Benz vehicle
s.

Best seats in the house
Plenty of lateral and thigh support eases you through the corners. With fro
nt seat Easy Entry function as standard, and the full power adjustment with seat memory as an option.

And now they boast our new, more attractive Leeds pattern, available in black or alpaca grey. Or, if you prefer, you can choose optional leather-upholstered seats, also in black or alpaca grey.

And our Evolution and Evolution AMG packages offer Artico (a
s featured above) – an additional man-made leather upholstery option, at no extra cost.

Mercedes CLK-Class Coupé

The CLK-Class Coupé has a sporty dynamic look. It looks as if it´s in motion, even when it´s standing still.

The newly-designed front bumper and sideskirts, in the same colour as the body, form a continuous line with the wings and doors. Chrome-trimmed door handles and all-round protection strips, also in the body colour, are recessed into the bodywork and blend subtly into the side contours. There’s also a stylish chrome trim accentuating the lines of the window surrounds, further emphasising the aerodynamic shape. Finally, the rear impressively concludes with some new-look tail-lights.
Highly sensitive
Headlamp Assist uses a light sensor on the windscreen to detect light levels. Meaning that when it is dark, or if you drive into a car park or tunnel, the lights automatically turn on for you (and off when you come out) although foggy conditions require manual operation.
Hard cell
The high-strength steel bodyshell has been completely redesigned, increasing the car’s all-angle resistance to impact by as much as 40% in the front and rear.

Despite the frameless side windows and lack of a middle (B-) pillar, this car is more robust than ever. Crash ratings for the CLK-Class have shown its occupant protection to be on a par with the S-Class.
